Emma, Hercules, and Drayus: Like Mother like Daughter
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Emma and her two stunning black and white cobs, Hercules and Drayus, at their beautiful private yard. Emma had invited me down to capture some special moments with her boys, and also to include her mother, who shares her passion for riding. Their yard is a peaceful haven, with trees lining the paddocks and a lovely hacking route nearby that follows a train line. Surprisingly, the trains were quite busy that day, but the boys were absolute pros, posing for their photos without batting an eye!
Hercules and Drayus were incredibly well-behaved throughout the shoot, a testament to the strong bond they share with Emma and her mum. We explored a few different looks, with Emma and her mum enjoying a couple of outfit changes. Starting with a relaxed, country casual vibe, perfect for capturing the everyday connection they have with their horses. Later, they both changed into elegant maxi dresses that complemented each other and the striking black and white coats of Hercules and Drayus.
We did the shoot in November to capture some beautiful Autumnal colours and as the afternoon progressed, the chill in the air became more noticeable. Despite the dropping temperature, both Emma and her mum were absolute troopers! They braved the cold in their beautiful dresses for some final, bareback ridden shots down the lane with Hercules and Drayus. The connection between them is so evident, and the contrast of the elegant dresses against the powerful cobs creates a stunning visual.
It was such a wonderful experience capturing Emma, her mum, and their gorgeous cobs. The quiet beauty of their yard, combined with the well-behaved horses and the obvious love they share, made for a truly memorable photoshoot. These photos will be treasured memories for years to come, a lasting testament to the special bond between a family and their horses.
