Lauryn and I have been speaking for the past few months, trying to nail a date in our diaries when we are both free to capture some photos of her stunning Thoroughbred Romulan Prince.

After a few rescheduled dates due to an injury and changing yards, we landed on a perfect Saturday morning at the East Riding Equestrian Centre in Newport.  As I came off the motorway, my satnav took me down a very overgrown and little used track, but it was a lovely scenic detour (and a shortcut) to the yard which is set in the countryside surrounded by open views across miles of fields.

I met Lauryn by the stable blocks, she was giving Prince a final wipe down, much to his dislike.  But he stood well, allowing her to add the final touches so he was looking ‘show ready’ for his photoshoot.  Lauryn then changed into a lovely red dress with clean white converse and we took Prince out for a walk down a road that he was familiar with.

When doing these shoots, I always recommend somewhere the Horse is familiar with or where the owner knows they will be comfortable for safety reasons. It allows them to settle into the shoot and relax which also creates better images as well as keeping everybody safe.

These are the perfect moments I love to capture!  Lauryn has only had Prince since last November but you can clearly see the trust and love he has with her.  He’s only 5 years old, fresh from the racetrack but was an absolute star for his shoot, with his ears forward and perfectly timed snuggles with Lauryn as I was shooting away.

When we were planning Lauryn’s shoot, she’d suggested some bareback shots on Prince in her dress. Lauryn has plenty of experience with Horses and is also a stunt rider so I left it up to her judgement of what she felt comfortable with on the day and knew that Prince would be able to manage too. Prince was a superstar and calmly allowed Lauryn to get on, so we got a few stunning shots.

After a few more shots on the ground, we returned to the yard where Lauryn changed into her riding gear, then went into a field where there were some jumps to set up.  It was lovely to be seated on a cross country jump with a gorgeous view across the fields in the morning sunshine.  Prince is still fairly new to this discipline but with Lauryn’s expertise and quiet riding I can see that they’re partnership is going to go far. It was wonderful watching them jumping together.

At Lauryn’s gallery viewing I don’t think she was prepared for how well they both looked together.  She struggled to narrow down her selection, loving almost every image from their Lifestyle Photoshoot.  Lauryn and Prince were a dream to work with and we’re already talking about plans for their next photoshoot at a different location 😊

What Lauryn had to say about her Equestrian Lifestyle Photoshoot…

“From start to finish I enjoyed every second. Victoria was polite and professional throughout the whole process. Her attention to detail was superb and she really has an eye for where to catch the best shots. She was very easy to talk to, making the whole experience fun and enjoyable. Overall I could not of asked for any better. The photos were amazing and the variety made it difficult to choose my favourites. We are already planning another shoot and I would highly recommend her to anyone.”
